Colorado Open Lands' Wish List!
As a community-based nonprofit, we are committed to operating as efficiently as possible and making the best use of any contributions we receive. Colorado Open Lands has been able to save thousands of conservation dollars through the donation of items on our wish list by our generous donors.
With your support, we are able to better focus on our conservation projects. Your support can be financial, an actual item from our Wish List, or a small monthly donation toward one of our larger items.
Although you will see requests for multiples of the same item, donations for one of any of them will still help us considerably.
Please contact us if you would like to help acquire any of the following:
- SPOT Satellite Personal Tracker (3). Our stewardship team uses these trackers while monitoring to keep them safe. SPOT is a small, portable, multi-function device that acts as a satellite emergency locator, provides real-time location tracking over the web, and allows one way SMS text (or email) messages in areas where there is no cellular or internet access. Estimated cost is US$150 per unit.
- Field GPS Unit. We are in need of a new GPS unit (a compact, lightweight, fully-integrated field computer) for our stewardship team for mapping conservation easement sites, riparian areas, and other important aspects of a property being preserved. The unit comes bundled with software both for the unit and the desktop interface. Estimated cost is about US$1,000.
- Conference Room Chairs (12). We need to replace our well-worn and very aged chairs. Estimated cost is about US$210 per chair for a total of US$2,520.
We would like to especially thank the following for their generous donation to Colorado Open Lands:
- Tessa Goldhamer for her donation to purchase 1 SPOT locater. This will help definitely help keep our monitoring staff safe while out in the field!
- Tom Chaney for giving us 2 brand new LCD Screens and a digital camera. The screens were put to instant use for mapping and graphics. The staff really appreciate the LCD screens as they are easier on the eyes than the old CRT models. The camera replaces an older model that could no longer hold a charge and has increased the capacity to take better photos for monitoring and various special events.
Thank you so very much!
