Colorado Open Lands

Our Work

98% of our organizational resources are devoted to preserving land through our Land Protection Program which has protected over 227,359 acres to date.

Colorado Open Lands operates four Horses in Routt National Forestprograms:

  • The Land Protection Program uses three approaches:  broad, community-based efforts with multiple partners and multiple landowners; assistance to individual landowners; and assistance to government agencies.
  • Our Land Stewardship Program both ensures continued protection of the lands held by Colorado Open Lands and serves as a model program for the conservation community.
  • The Fellowship Program is the first of its kind nationally and provides unique, hands-on training in land conservation techniques for tomorrow’s conservation leaders.
  • The Statewide Leadership Program identifies opportunities for Colorado Open Lands to play a leadership role on important statewide or national issues.

Red Bluff ElkColorado Open Lands has the honor of working with willing and committed landowners.  All are landowners who understand and appreciate what it means to be responsible stewards and work for the preservation of their land.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all the hard work and effort this diverse group of landowners do to make their dreams for their land a reality.
